Wood Bat Primer
Wood Basics:
- White Ash - Most of today's wooden baseball bats are made of white ash; it is a top choice for its hardness, strength, durability and lower price.
- Maple - Maple bats increased in popularity after Barry Bonds used one to hit 73 home runs in 2001. Maple bats are more expensive than white ash bats, but last longer.
- Bamboo - Bamboo has recently increased in popularity because of its ability to be pressed and processed into an extremely strong bat. Bamboo is also a fast growing plant that can be harvested much quicker than Maple or Ash.

Proper Use and Care for your ZC Bat:
ZC Bats are handmade from the finest and most durables woods available to any bat maker in the industry. Believe it or not, there is a proper way to hold and use your bat that may prevent or prolong cracking or breaking. Most manufacturers place their trademark logo on the bat. This logo is typically placed on the face of the bat that represents the weakest length of the wood. To hold the bat properly, one should grasp the bat in such a way that the logo is either facing the batter or 180 degrees rotated away from the batter. This will ensure that the bat, when swung, will contact the ball 90 degrees on either side of the logo where the grains of the bat are most dense and strong.
Cleaning the full length of the bat should be performed on a regular basis with rubbing (isopropyl) alcohol and a clean cloth. Proper care and caution should be taken when using isopropyl alcohol. Read manufacturer’s directions prior to use.
